GET TO KNOW ME

Psychotherapy is an individual, and often vulnerable experience. My intention to listen and engage with you in a way that allows you to feel comfortable and understood, even when it’s hard to do that for yourself. I strive to create a warm, authentic environment where, together, we can explore the depths of your experiences without judgment. While the therapeutic process is not always linear, it is important for me to provide support as you cultivate a deeper level of self-awareness and reflection.


I approach therapy from a holistic, intersectional, trauma informed lens grounded in psychodynamic practices, non-judgement, positive regard. My work is tailored to each individual to ensure the interventions are in alignment to your unique needs. While exploring how past experiences influence the way you move through the present moment, I may incorporate mindfulness, psychoeducation, skill building, CBT and narrative therapy when appropriate. My specialties include dating, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, job satisfaction, unhealthy coping mechanisms, low self-esteem, transitions to and from college, difficult family dynamics, sexuality, gender, trauma and PTSD. 


Katharine obtained her Master of Social Work at Silberman School with a focus on clinical practice with individuals, families and small groups, and a concentration in Global Social Work. In addition to Katharine’s work in private practice, she has done extensive work around intersectionality and trauma informed therapy with non-profits across New York City and abroad.

I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among patients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the patient and therapist alike. In the end, fostering self-awareness and making small changes can bring life-altering results.
